This doesn’t exactly fit here but Dave Willis and Dave Hileman prevailed in the opening set of Williamsburg League Tennis in a marathon three-hour match. When Willis figured out by the toss which serve we were going to get, the match turned! Fun start to the season.

Posted in Church Visits, Thank You on March 29, 2009 by djhvaTo Jim and Jannette Bayne. Jim retired from Belmont Christian Church in Christiansburg after serving there for 27 years. Belmont held a nice “drop in” receptions for the Baynes on Saturday and are holding special services this Sunday, March 29th. We appreciate Jim and his years of faithful service to the Kingdom and wish them both well as they enjoy their family and travel around the country the next few weeks.

Let’s talk
Posted in Church Visits, Prayer Request, Travel on March 18, 2009 by hrgillI had a fine fusion meeting in Grundy yesterday with guys that love Jesus. Some of the interesting topics I am finding people want to talk about is: “How can we get the Church started again.” We seem to be in a mind set that is keeping our churches on square one. Not true for all of our churches but certainly some have not tried to reach out to the community around them in some time. Now I believe that all of our church leaders want the church to grow, but seem unable to make that happen. One exciting way that is taking place is for leaders around the state to get together and talk about what is next. Ain’t that a great idea!!! Maybe you have been thinking about it and would like to do that. Email me…….
Mosaic Christian Church
Posted in Church Planting, Church Visits, Worship with tags Worship on March 16, 2009 by djhvaCindy and I were able to attend the worship service at Mosaic that meets in the theatre at Arundel Mills Mall near Baltimore. We met some very enthused people working with the church. The kids areas were all first class, very well done and the worship service was excellent. A first for me was the manner communion was served: one cup with a wafer in it nested with a cup with juice. Very easy to handle. Great idea for some venues.
VEF meeting
Posted in Travel, Waypoint Events on March 3, 2009 by djhvaThe VEF directors, officers and staff held a two-day retreat in Salem, Virginia the end of February. Living Water hosted the VEF and Paul Hatifield and his daughter-in-law, Jamie were gracious and helpful all weekend. Beaver Terry (Crossings Christian Church) spoke on Friday night after a meal at the Homeplace. Harry, our barista, made some excellent lattes. The time spent was both productive and fun.
